Have you ever gotten dizzy after an intense workout?
During exercise, your body opens up blood flow to the smaller blood vessels throughout your body to increase blood flow and oxygen delivery to your muscles. Your heart rate increases to meet the blood supply delivery demands to the muscles.
When your activity level suddenly drops, your heart rate begins to quickly drop. Decreased heart rate means that your heart is no longer intensely pumping the blood throughout the body, which can leave blood pooling in your lower extremities. When the blood collects in your lower extremities, it can temporarily deprive your upper body (heart and brain) from this blood supply and oxygen, resulting in dizziness and sometimes fainting.
Simply walking for a minute or two or some stretching can greatly reduce your chances of experiencing dizziness after working out.
